“A public artwork from the city of Baghdad with global reach made possible through technology, creativity and the human impulse to connect”
A project by curator Meredith Gunderson and artist Theresa Caruana, made possible through collaboration with the Mixed Reality Lab
The RIVERS BAGHDAD project will commence with a 1-day interactive exhibition at Benjamin Franklin House on 22 June 2009. The exhibition is designed for members of the public to take part in the artist's creative process. This ongoing collaboration between members of the public and the artist will, in due course, culminate in a large scale projected public artwork in the city of Baghdad, streamed to private and public screens across the globe.

New technology is being developed to create an immersive and interactive artwork based on Google Earth images of Baghdad whereby participants are placed into a virtual Baghdad enhanced and annotated by the artist. Viewers can navigate through the virtual cityscape using emerging mobile phone technology during the 1-day exhibition in London.

1-day exhibition - 22nd June 2009 - 9am-9pm

Benjamin Franklin House, 36 Craven Street, London, WC2N 5NF (nearest tube station: Charing Cross)
